The Peculiar Case Of Kemsley And Todd (PBH’s Free Fringe)

By | Published on Thursday 8 August 2013

This oddball double act present an offbeat and outlandish show that highlights their own individual quirks. The duo attempt to wander off the beaten track and present us with something a bit different but, unfortunately, the risk doesn’t pay off. Richard Todd bumbles his way through a mediocre set plagued with jokes that fail to land. The best parts of his segment are his ad-lib comments mocking the quality of his own material; hardly the trait of a fantastic comic. Harriet Kemsley gives a stronger performance, delivering her material in a much more controlled manner, and there were some genuine laughs at the narration of scenes from her socially awkward life, albeit not enough to salvage the show.

The Banshee Labyrinth, until 24 Aug (not 19), 2.20pm.
