The Jocks And Geordies (Dan Willis & Obie)
By Frances Greenfield | Published on Saturday 31 August 2013
Wonderfully shambolic, Jocks and Geordies offered an hour of short sets from a variety of acts, including the brilliantly surreal impressions of a man they quite literally found in the bar at the last minute. Mostly crude, sometimes clever, everything was performed with a friendly recognition of its own lack of professionalism, and the audience loved it. High concept this show isn’t, but the anything goes atmosphere lent a joyfulness to the proceedings and created a solidly entertaining hour. Compère Dan Willis knows how to work a room, involving the audience completely throughout, whilst regular act Obie performed with natural charm and wit that really added to the relaxed atmosphere. For audience banter and uncomplicated laughter, it’s worth taking a chance on.
