Sympathy For Revill (Purchase And Revill / Laughing Horse Free Festival)
By Lizzie Milton | Published on Tuesday 27 August 2013
This show contains a series of stories, with the audience voting on whether they have sympathy for our host, Paul Revill, at the end of each one. Whilst the material on offer is not particularly original, the show is well structured and Revill is generally likeable. He manages his audience confidently, and while his teacher side can come out on occasion, making him a little condescending, in general Revill was sufficiently affable and energetic that it was difficult not to get on board. Considering the show was conceived last minute, due to an unexpected cancellation, Revill puts on a good performance. It would be very interesting to see what he could come up with had he more planning time.
Laughing Horse @ The Counting House, until 25 Aug, 5.45pm.
