Stand Up Sat Down (Matt Gibson)

By | Published on Tuesday 27 August 2013

Matt Gibson entertains for 45 minutes with tales of middle class students, his mother, and everything he hates in the world (mainly the Jonas Brothers and vegetarians). His observations are witty in themselves, but particular highlights come when he breaks into music; a rap about St Andrews students and a song about his dislikes have the audience grinning. Though he never produces a full chorus of laughs, it’s an enjoyable show – not only as a result of the material, but also owing to Gibson’s obvious charisma and stage presence. His accessible anecdotes keep the audience interested, and telling us his favourite strange foreign words was a certain winner. One of the best value stand-up comics around.
