Sam Fletcher – Drawn-out Jokes (Sam Fletcher / United Agents)
By Robert Stuart | Published on Friday 9 August 2013
Throughout the performance, Sam Fletcher insisted on breaking character to let the audience know he really wasn’t that odd, despite his idiosyncrasies being the very essence of this wonderfully strange, endearing hour of comedy. Few comedians can pull off quirkiness without appearing contrived, but Fletcher was as genuine as they come. Behind his eccentricity lay some formidable comic talent; whether it was getting to grips with his iPhone or singing in appreciation of Morgan Freeman, the show constantly offered unpredictable, hysterical moments of madness. This perceptive, extraordinary act was absolutely brilliant. Far from being drawn-out, Fletcher’s comedy left the audience wanting more, for all the right reasons.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 26 Aug, 4.45pm.
