Sally-Anne Hayward – Hey Follower! (Sally-Anne Hayward / The Stand Comedy Club)
By Isobel Steer | Published on Friday 9 August 2013
One woman, one microphone, no props. This pared back, anecdotal show has a gentle and warm style of humour. Hayward opens up about her life, and investigates those of the audience. A lot of her material focuses on her cat, her relationships and her medical experiences, and ranges from the gruesome to the touching. When talking with the audience, she seems to take a genuine interest in people, though is careful not be too intrusive! This is stand up with a heart and, although it could not be accused of being ground-breaking, it is very enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the excellent rap at the end to summarise “da show”.
The Stand Comedy Club II, until 25 Aug (not 12), 4.50pm.
