Rick Kiesewetter – Chink (Rick Kiesewetter / Free Festival)
By Robert Stuart | Published on Friday 16 August 2013
From Japan to New Jersey, through Leicester to London, Rick Kiesewetter has lived his life in transit. He led us through the details of this itinerant existence, trying to make sense of where he stands in this world and, in the process, proved himself to be very funny. From anecdotes of growing up on America’s East Coast, to teaching his children about prejudice, Kiesewetter delivered his performance with a carefully balanced mix of humour, cynicism and sentiment. His strong, personable style of delivery made this was a hugely enjoyable hour of comedy. For somebody who was cast as a six year-old boy in a school production of ‘South Pacific’ aged sixteen, he appears to have never looked back.
Laughing Horse @ Espionage, until 25 Aug, 6.30pm.
