Remember That I Love You (Gregory Akerman / Free Festival)

By | Published on Friday 16 August 2013

For Gregory Akerman to class his show, ‘Remember That I Love You’, as comedy is a little  indulgent and somewhat misguided. His hour of difficult to follow ramblings were definitely more of the Spoken Word variety, as he learns about the life of an unexceptional woman he never knew.  He is clearly an intelligent man and his philosophical ideas were well constructed, but he’s just not a particularly funny one. I felt myself sink deeper into a state of misery as the minutes dragged by – Akerman talked predominantly of mortality. The show felt like a one-sided existentialist conversation at a late night stoners’ session. Which might have been fine if it wasn’t midday and I wasn’t completely sober.

Laughing Horse @ The Free Sisters, until 25 Aug, 12.15pm.
