Quiz In My Pants (Nicola Bolsover / PBH’s Free Fringe)

A clever experiment which pays off, this show takes the tired format of a TV quiz show and injects new life and joy into it by presenting it live on stage. A lot of effort has gone into examining what works and what doesn’t when appropriating familiar tropes from the studio set and letting them loose on a free-range audience. The host is quick to discard any redundant aspects, dropping the conceit of a ‘Mock The Week’ style improv round and just asking the stand-ups to do a tight, funny five minutes. This forthright approach made the rest of the show more spontaneous, and definitely funnier than any quiz show you’ll see from your sofa.
