Peter Antoniou – Comedium (Peter Antoniou and DBS Produtions)
By Jonathan Mayo | Published on Tuesday 13 August 2013
Peter Antoniou gave a rounded set as a psychic comedian, using his prowess to draw mobile numbers, birthdays and intimate secrets from members of the audience. These stunts were interspersed with intentionally naff jokes and banter with the crowd, which made up a likeable yet cheesy performance. Antoniou’s ability to recreate unseen drawings through seemingly irrelevant interrogation was genuinely impressive, although some of his other stunts seemed to lack the wow-factor. However, he managed to hold the crowd’s attention effectively in the cramped room, and enticed plenty of groans with his quick one-liners. Whilst unlikely to leave you in utter bewilderment, this performance will generate a satisfying confusion that warrants money well-spent.
Sweet Grassmarket, until 25 Aug, 4.10pm.
