Paul F Taylor Presents The Greatest Show In The World Ever (Paul F Taylor / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Kate Pasola | Published on Tuesday 27 August 2013
I think Paul F Taylor is really funny. The man on my right did too, but oddly, a lot of the audience didn’t. It wasn’t slick, some jokes weren’t perfect and he needs to learn to avoid over-milking punchlines, but I loved it. His observatory one-liners were superb, and his ‘what-in-the-name-of-god-is-going-on’ absurdist comedy was stupidly great. He demonstrated thematic continuation in his jokes, which meant at the end there was a climactic thunder of laughter from the (otherwise lethargic) audience, who’d anticipated the imminence of some sort of comic finale all along. Satisfying and refreshingly free of self-indulgence, Paul F Taylor is going to rear a cult following of those with refined senses of humour, and you should join us.
The Dram House Upstairs, until 24 Aug, 7.30pm.
