ED2013 5/5 Reviews ED2013 Comedy Reviews
Neil Delamere – Smartbomb (Off the Kerb Productions by arrangement with Lisa Richards Agency)
By Stephanie Gray | Published on Monday 12 August 2013
Neil Delamere is obviously at home on the stage: after a brief explanation that the show will be nothing like its description, he launches into an hour of non-stop anecdotes. The way Delamere interacts with his crowd is far friendlier than many comedians who employ the audience participation approach; he’s a likeable guy, and the crowd warms to him very quickly. His improvised quick wit is brilliant, and he shows his appreciation to the front row by thanking them individually towards the end. Though he pushes his final joke a little too far, he somehow recovers with some improvisation: “Now I’m caught in an infinite loop of shit. And that, Ladies and Gents, will be the line in the review.” A very funny guy with a lot of great stories to tell.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 25 Aug (not 12), 9.00pm.
