Multi-Levelled Morons – Free (Tim Wilderspin And Ste Price / Free Festival)
By Victoria Beardwood | Published on Tuesday 13 August 2013
The start of a character comedy show can often be awkward, but Wilderspin and Price wisely began with some stand-up. Wilderspin’s amusing routine eased people in, meaning they were much more accepting when the duo transformed into their crazy characters. Price played the eccentric Simeon Gold, a strong, funny character who gave a humorous one-man theatre workshop. Wilderspin’s complete oddball of a character (Nigel De’Ath, “the world’s strangest man”) had less substance than Price’s, getting fewer laughs and creating a slightly uncomfortable atmosphere. But his finishing stand-up was good overall, a mix of some great lines and some terrible jokes. This was one of the funnier character comedies I have seen, and if you’re fond of a bit of strangeness I would recommend this.
Laughing Horse @ Jekyll & Hyde, until 25 Aug (not 15), 1.30pm.
