Mr Susie’s To Earth With Love (Mark Davison)
By Andrew Pollard | Published on Wednesday 14 August 2013
I urge you not to be perturbed by Mr Susie’s strange title and fruit adorned appearance; the show is weird, but not that weird. In essence it’s just very well done character-based stand up, albeit framed within a rather bizarre narrative device. Mr Susie, an alien from a distant planet, travels to Earth pursuing the despairing song of Ricky Tin. Upon arrival he’ll have you howling with his mischievous banter and childish optimism. Although it’s a shame that cheesy narrative devices arrest momentum in an effort to indulge thematic links, Mr Susie is a charming character who will entrance and delight you. So for those looking for a brief encounter of the funny kind, The Tonic is out there.
Just the Tonic at The Caves, until 25 Aug (not 13), 2.40pm.
