Milton Jones On The High Road (Phil McIntyre Entertainments by Arrangement with Noel Gay)
By Grace Brennan | Published on Tuesday 20 August 2013
With his cleverly composed one-liners, Milton Jones comes across as effortlessly funny. Arriving on stage on a motorised scooter, you instantly sense the playfulness of his act and can’t help grinning; while his then supposed lack of enthusiasm in delivery makes the jokes all the more amusing. He is reminiscent of someone like your friend’s Dad, cracking quick puns to impress while the daughter cringes in the background – but it works. On this occasion Jones also uses some visual aids to assist, a factor which definitely adds to his charm, and his innocently delivered type of comedy is refreshing. Ending on a patriotic song to unite the audience, Jones shows his appeal to the masses.
