Max And Ivan – The Reunion (Mick Perrin Worldwide in association with Dawn Sedgwick Management)
By Shiv Das | Published on Sunday 25 August 2013
Max and Ivan creatively perform a riveting one hour sketch show based on the premise that’s it’s a school reunion, featuring fighting with instruments, Alan the gun polisher no one remembers, and a famished lion on the loose, in which themes of love, loss and friendship are explored. With almost no set to speak of, Max and Ivan seamlessly act out each sketch, as well as consistently moving perfectly between them, never losing the crowd’s focus. What’s interesting is that the light on the audience is never dimmed down, and this, coupled with the seating arrangement that puts us almost around the performance, makes it feel as though we are all in it together; not one audience member is ever left behind. Gripping and hilarious, at the same time.
Pleasance Dome, until 25 August, 8.20pm.
