Mark Stephenson – Half Man Half Amazing (Mark Stephenson / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Christopher Spring | Published on Saturday 17 August 2013
Right… Basically…There’s a fine line between a dry comedian and a dull comedian, yeah? … Basically… Mark Stephenson was the latter. He takes us on a monotone lecture through material that was not… like… groundbreaking, insightful or like… interesting, right? With punchlines rare amongst the monotony. Basically… also…. he didn’t really say a lot of… like… new words, right? Often repeating himself during the same sentence. A portion of this came from his nerves, right? His delivery…. yeah… was distracting, and because he put in too much energy for it to be deadpan, it didn’t fall into a style, it just reinforced the awkward atmosphere created, making this the most toe-curling gig I’ve sat through in Edinburgh. Yeah?
The Banshee Labyrinth, until 24 Aug, 3.30pm.
