Magpie And Stump Are Chairman Lmao And The Lolitburo
By Lizzie Milton | Published on Saturday 31 August 2013
With the exception of the compère, Harriet, this team of stand-ups lack the stage presence to succeed; there is little energy in their performances, and not one of them made eye contact with the audience. Not only this, but the acts failed to introduce themselves to the crowd, instead diving straight into their material, which made for a rather jarring effect. The material wasn’t really there, either; jokes were generally quite poorly structured, and it was often unclear where the punch line was. Meanwhile, the few bits of audience interaction that did occur were poorly managed, either because the act in question was rude and condescending, or was unable to conjure up a witty retort. All in all, a group too inexperienced to be doing a Fringe run quite yet.
