Lenny Peters – Lost In Nonsense (Lenny Peters)
By Elizabeth Jewell | Published on Tuesday 27 August 2013
Lenny Peters’ part-stand up, part-improv show is a nice enough idea, full of jokes and games. Unfortunately, it didn’t all work too well. Pointing out that he had a “tough crowd”, and chiding them for not laughing at the right moments, definitely didn’t make things any easier. As the audience eventually warmed to him he did become more comfortable, and funnier with it, though his improvised game of chatting up an unlucky member of the audience in a range of accents made things uncomfortable again. His regional accents weren’t brilliant, and they all too often just employed crude stereotypes over wit. ‘Lost In Nonsense’ had its moments, but those afraid of audience participation should stay away.
Laughing Horse @ Espionage, until 25 Aug (not 19), 4.45pm.
