KelFi & FiKel (Good Times Presents)
By Kyung Oh | Published on Thursday 22 August 2013
Kelly and Fiona – KelFi, FiKel, see? – are two best friends who sing as if they could be in a West End musical. With the earnest faces and sincere demeanour of fairy princesses in a panto, they blaze through uproarious songs and dances that delight in filth, swearing, and sexual re-enactments. They dip in and out of character-based premise sketches (e.g. an autistic son and a deranged, overprotective home-schooling mother), or over-the-top dances parodying cheerleader-type women. Though they make heavy use of swearing and sexual content, the humour is never cheap, and in fact has is subtle and nuanced in a way that I couldn’t quite pin point. Fast-paced, with jokes that tumble on you relentlessly, this is an outrageously funny show. The entire room was keeling over with laughter.
Gilded Balloon Teviot, until 25 Aug, 9.30pm.
