John Williams – My Son’s Not Rainman (Team Wonderful)
By Robert Stuart | Published on Tuesday 13 August 2013
Autism and comedy are not subjects that you would naturally put together, but John Williams manages to dispel that preconception. This show told a touching story of his relationship with his disabled son in a genuinely heart-warming fashion. Williams had a gentle, humorous approach to the performance that moved effortlessly between light-hearted comedy and poignant emotion. It was refreshing to see the issue of autism, plagued by misunderstanding and prejudice, tackled and addressed with such force and command. A sincere, moving hour that left the audience enlightened and conscious of a disability that, in all honesty, deserves more awareness from the public. Williams has certainly laid the foundations for people to do just that.
