Harry Deansway – Wrong Way (Harry Deansway)
By Alice Harrold | Published on Thursday 15 August 2013
An awkward introduction, that went on far too long, was the start to this aptly named production. From there, Deansway chose to de-construct the different types of comedy shows usually featured at the Fringe. This involved him announcing and describing each section of his act as it went slowly by. The problem with analysing and satirising things like observational comedy, dramatic film and racist humour, is that you have to be either extremely funny or good at acting to pull it off. Sadly,
this was not the case. It’s easy to see what Deansway was trying to accomplish here, but his ideas lacked imagination and the jokes and delivery were simply not entertaining. Do not see this show.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 26 Aug, 6.00pm.
