ED2013 4/5 Reviews ED2013 Comedy Reviews
Doc Brown (Live Nation Presents…)
By Frances Greenfield | Published on Saturday 31 August 2013
Witty and fresh, Doc Brown uses a mixture of rap and stand up to discuss issues ranging from the serious, encompassing themes of misogyny and race, to the silly, in a memorable rap about cats. Much of his routine is informed by his time in the music industry, and his spoof generic rap is as clever as it is funny, whilst his stories about ingrained homophobia lend the set a more meaningful tone, a shining example of how comedy can be used as a vehicle for highlighting social injustice. It’s not all serious though, and Brown’s sharp wordplay creates punchlines that resonate laughter around the room long after the joke is over.
