Darius Davies’ HBÖ Special (Darius Davies)

By | Published on Friday 30 August 2013

Darius Davies is proud of living in Britain – that is the clear message of this show, and for one of the stranger reasons ever heard. Davies’ material also includes stories about his Muslim father and upbringing, his experience of racism as a half-Iranian, and PlayStation games. The audience were kept laughing and Davies certainly delivered everything with huge amounts of enthusiasm and a lot of laughter. His impersonations of his father were a strong point and use of personal experiences with things from drugs, games to “youths” on the bus gave his show charm. Davies’ stand-up is entertaining and amusing but a bit stale – some jokes feel over-used and in need of refinement but there is definitely a lot of potential.

Laughing Horse @ Meadow Bar, until 25 Aug, 10.00pm.

PS: Just in case there was any doubt, this show has nothing to do with HBO!
