Dahle And Jones On A Plate – Free (Paul Jones and Ingrid Dahle / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Andrew Pollard | Published on Wednesday 14 August 2013
Two stand-ups for the price of none. Paul, a frowning spouter of one-liners, comes together with the endearingly zany Ingrid in a classic odd couple scenario, to varying effect. Initially the banter, obviously intended to produce awkward laughter and smirk-filled pauses, is just a little stilted. However the chemistry increases after some individual stand-up and the unexpectedly macabre ending works to darkly comic effect. Ingrid succeeds with a brilliant opening skit and an interesting take on the comedian/comedienne imbalance she is ultimately uneven. Paul is the stronger element, with a more consistent chuckle-producing routine and a flair for the slightly left-field punch-lines. For those who like sweet ‘n’ sour, maybe this dish is for you.
The Dram House, until 24 Aug (not 19), 1.00pm.
