Charlie Baker – Baker’s Dozen (Off The Kerb Productions in association with Debi Allen Associates)
By Joseph Trotter | Published on Thursday 15 August 2013
As with books since the dawn of the printing press, here is a lesson: never judge a show by its poster. On his, Charlie Baker looks part-crooner, part-Labrador, all-square. In reality, his show is absolutely nuts and a complete delight. Singing the biggest-selling (and most dreadful) songs of the last 13 years, Baker puts his own twist on each, from contemplative French numbers to chaotic and consummately performed show-stoppers. In between, Baker serves up comedy gold, and his supporting cast of willing odd-balls ensure that the spectacle is an absolute riot. Pure, undiluted, barmy musical fun not to be missed – not even by you.
Assembly George Square, until 26 Aug, 9.15.
