COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Little Red (BigMix Theatre)
‘Little Red Riding Hood’ is ripe for adaptation and here you will find a very friendly wolf. The concept is charming and the costumes are great, but the story is either hard to follow or rather slow paced. A huge screen with an abstract animation of the woods begins the show and draws the audience in, but later becomes too literal. Although the stage area is small, the church space is enormous so the characters feel rather lost, and could certainly stand to be much bigger. This piece has scope but it needs to be funnier, darker or both.
Paradise in Augustine’s, until 17 Aug, 3.25pm.
