Cinderella And The Flower Fairies (Burklyn Youth Ballet)
By Jade Wilson | Published on Wednesday 21 August 2013
Little girls are conditioned to love ‘Cinderella’ and, thanks to Disney, they all know the story. This youth ballet group from America brings another traditional rendering of the famous folk tale. The dancing troupe of girls vary in age and ability with the title roles rotating. The Prince, however, is played by a graduate who elevates the performance and gets the biggest laugh for his grimace at the silly Step Sisters. Cinderella was smiley and charming and an interlude of the Flower Fairies added colour. Children were invited to ask their parents questions throughout and, at the end, to come on stage and meet the dancers, creating a safe and sweet introduction to watching ballet.
Zoo Southside, until 17 Aug, 10.30am.
