Psyche – Do You Mind? (Leandro Morgado / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Elizabeth Jewell | Published on Monday 12 August 2013
There are a quite a few magicians at the Fringe, and whilst some do more than one thing at once, not a lot would try to combine magic with comedy, spoken word and a general awe of the human brain all at the same time. This is a valiant attempt to combine a lot of different elements, and sadly, it’s just too ambitious, so, rather awkwardly, a few of the tricks went catastrophically wrong. Morgado announced a couple of times that he hoped there weren’t any reviewers in, and as the final trick of solving a Rubik’s Cube went awry and he floundered, everyone in the audience squirmed. The idea behind the show was smart, but even if the tricks had gone well, it might not have been the most memorable magic show around.
The Voodoo Rooms, until 17 Aug, 3.00pm.
