ED2013 Cabaret Reviews
Oliver Meech – When Magic And Science Collide (Oliver Meech)
By Rebecca Lunn | Published on Thursday 15 August 2013
If impressive magic tricks and comedy are what you’re looking for, I suggest you pop in for the last ten minutes of this show. Because apart from the interesting finale, with its two intriguing tricks, this show was a disappointment. Oliver Meech tries and fails to be quick-witted or amusing. Combine this with a total lack of science, which contradicts his act title and description, and you can see why I’m frustrated. Even in 2011, a ThreeWeeks review said Meech was using tricks we’ve all seen before, so you’re unlikely to see anything new now. Unlike with similarly themed show ‘Domestic Science’, Meech’s crowd don’t leave any more informed than when they sat down.
Just the Tonic at The Caves, until 25 Aug (not 13), 2.20pm.
