Mum, Can You Wipe My Bum? (Vicky Alridge)

By | Published on Monday 19 August 2013

If you like the ‘YouTube’ video of the same name, it’s highly likely that you are going to like this show. Chances are it will particularly appeal to older children, and perhaps the parents who are going to Fringe shows with them; indeed, one parent commented that the euphemisms were subtle enough to still go over his daughter’s head, but that the songs were silly enough to engage her on a different level. Whilst the show’s somewhat niche appeal will put a lot of people off, it is well pitched at this target audience. Having used the internet to reach a very specific group of people, Vicky relies on their rapt attention, and gives a live performance is chatty and understated, rather than over-stretching herself, singing adeptly composed songs of solidarity to other parents.

C nova, until 10 Aug, 5.45pm.
