There was a floating head poking out side of stage, displaying myriad facial expressions, and this was before the show even started. The comical sidekick Victor Victoria eventually came out from behind the curtains joined by deviant diva Bernadette Byrne, and straight away, two men were plucked from the audience to create a “man beast”. Be warned: no seat is safe. ‘EastEnd Cabaret’ will delve into the middle of the audience to pick their prey. Songs were sung, ‘gin’ was drunk, Victy tried to convince everyone that everything was okay before developing an elaborate story about a crazed maniac with a very impressive disguise. The natural repartee between Bernie and Victy created a joyful evening of music, stories and debauchery.
