I genuinely feel like I’ve just spent an hour in the presence of a very special lady. The lovely Joan Shepard recollects stories from her life on the acting circuit, mainly Broadway. This sparkling show provides little glimpses into showbiz and a career which began for Shepard when Laurence Olivier hired her at just seven years of age. The setting in Fingers Piano Bar, with the integration of a live piano player, adds a distinctly vintage feel to the show. Joan’s theatrical ability is evident in the way she manages to express a story rather than just tell it, captivating her audience with cheeky tales and witty songs. A truly remarkable woman who deserves much attention at this year’s Fringe.
