Evie And The Perfect Cupcake (Tina Sederholm / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Veronika Kallus | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
“Lick me, lick me”, the pink shiny succulent icing is whispering, but the government is watching, the super-perfect sister is disgusted, and Aunt Gloria is away to foreign fields again. This is a tale from a not-so-distant dystopia that overflows with sugar and calories: consumption is monitored, and trespassers are publicly shamed and shunned. This almost hour-long monologue attacks modern concepts of beauty and success, and their perverse manifestations, in a heart-warming, tummy-filling way. It was well worth going on an adventurous chase, to finally dive into a dark and musty cellar in the bowels of the Old Town, for this icing-layered slice of spoken word.
The Banshee Labyrinth, 6-9 Aug, 5.00pm.
