Titanic Sinks Titswilly (Patchwork Theatre Company)

By | Published on Wednesday 22 August 2012

For a play that focuses on people’s inability to act, it was amazing that this cast seemed so blissfully unaware that they were the very thing which they were purporting to lampoon. Although, distinctly mediocre acting was not the worst part of this production; the script was a much bigger concern. The array of characters (played by just three people) were underdeveloped caricatures of rural village-folk, not one possessing any remotely likeable or genuine traits (if I were from Dorset I’d be seriously offended). Almost every gag bombed, there were awkward pauses during costume changes and the plot was painfully contrived. The anticlimactic ending was as confusing as it was unsatisfying. Avoid this play at all costs.
