Wild Turkey (Blue Bandit Theatre)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

With only one stage setting, four actors and minimal sound and lighting effects, ‘Wild Turkey’ delivered a very universal message about the societal stagnation of the working man. Focusing on a bar owner and his two friends/employees, the play delves into the thievery, violence and corruption of modern London society (reflecting any society), the commonplace lack of justice for those less fortunate, and the misguidance of youth in which that results. Though well directed and generally well performed, I found the reactions of the characters to certain situations somewhat unconvincing, which caused a rift in the writing. A gritty and emotional play, ‘Wild Turkey’ delivers a strong message, just not as carefully or eloquently as I’d hoped.
