White Rabbit, Red Rabbit (Aurora Nova Productions)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

We are introduced to our actor, who is handed an envelope containing the unseen script he is about to perform. As he begins to read, the voice of the writer, Iranian Nassim Soleimanpour, addresses us. The show premièred last Fringe and since then has been travelling the world, unlike its author, who has been denied a passport. The different actor each night means that no performances will ever be the same; ours had much laughter and fun but there was always the tension of no one knowing what the words on the next page would be. It’s staggering and leaves you thinking, not only because of its unusual method of presentation but also due to the many-layered content.

Summerhall, 18-22 Aug (not 21), 8.30pm.
