Fat Git Theatre revels in the unusual, absurd and grotesque. ‘Uninvited’, based on a novella by Peter Mortimer, is a strange tale of an eccentric, OCD suffering, single man who encounters an elusive intruder in his house. Bizarrely, the wallpaper is occupied by an invisible, disfigured and subtly funny, gruesome trio. The trio constantly use facial expressions and slight movements in response to the ensuing action, often with hilarious effects. I would though have liked these characters to have been more grotesque and more active. Water glass rims, knifes on plates and percussion instruments were all expertly used to artificially reproduce eerie noises. This is a fantastical, highly polished and professional play, worthy of attention at this year’s Fringe.
