Twentysomething (Cookie Jar)

By | Published on Tuesday 7 August 2012

Fancy a night with some drunken, bratty, self-indulgent young folk? No? Twentysomething isn’t as bad as it sounds. The script, although it has its problems, is sharp, funny and, dare I say it, ‘relevant’. Cookie Jar are a strong, talented cast, stand outs being Adam Colborne for a funny and endearing performance (the stage sorely misses him when he’s gone) and Jessica-Lee Hopkins, who shows off great comedic talent playing ditsy bohemian girl Kate. The script, however, spreads itself too thin, and all characters remain as one-dimensional as they were when we first meet them. Twentysomething is a snapshot of young people today, and although fun to indulge in, really doesn’t tell us much at all.

Spotlites @ Merchants’ Hall, 3-19 Aug, 6.25pm.
