Three Cities (Tit For Tat Theatre)
By India Doyle | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
‘Three Cities’ tells the story of three women and their different circumstances. Elaine is a pregnant woman on hold to NHS direct, Trina is a racist mother about to launch her first video blog and Ashlee is a single girl who has been abandoned by her internet date. Through them, we are confronted with the pitfalls of modern society and our relationships. The script was hilarious, and as individuals each member of the cast gave a brilliant performance; unfortunately the transition between characters felt stilted and consistently stunted the momentum of the play, while the ending was anticlimactic and failed to bring together the disparate acts. ‘Three Cities’ is a promising piece of new writing, but it isn’t entirely polished yet.
Sweet Grassmarket, 13-26 Aug (not 18, 25), 7.30pm.
