The Trial (On Your Feet Theatre Collective / PBH’s Free Fringe)

By | Published on Friday 17 August 2012

Staging an adaptation of Kafka’s acclaimed novel ‘The Trial’ is a brave move, and On Your Feet very nearly pull it off. The use of movement and creation of setting through simple cardboard squares is wonderful, as are the rare moments of humour; however, the script doesn’t quite match up to the actors’ incredible physicality. Some conversations seem to wither towards the middle section and the audience begin to fidget in their seats.‘The Trial’ starts as a high energy production which, rather than grinding to a halt, begins to limp towards the end. Ultimately, the show is saved by the witty one liners, which really get the audience laughing. Good, but not as good as it could be.

Princes Mall, 7-11 Aug, 6.00pm.
