The Tempest (Squeaky Door Production Company)
By Veronika Kallus | Published on Sunday 12 August 2012
Shakespeare. A timeless, flawless, beautiful production. Ariel drags us under the sea, lifts us in the azure blue air, lets us smell fertile earth and be burnt by passionate fire. An ever swirling, shifting, ever floating, bubbling moving performance of ‘The Tempest’ that sweeps us away. Caliban is the most mesmerising and charming monster on the island of spirits, while young lovers play on the sun-striated beach and nature and fate run their courses. Easy, light, full of colour, enchanting, spirited, fresh, fascinating, sweet – and all of this is not enough. Maybe not the most serious, conservative approach, but well worth seeing to be spirited away, and to let your fantasy run free on foreign shores.
theSpace on Niddry St, 3-18 Aug (not 5, 12), 2.00pm.
