The Lonely One (Dotted Line Theatre)

By | Published on Tuesday 14 August 2012

What happens when you combine shadow puppetry, torches and a musty old venue at the top of Underbelly? Surprisingly, you get something that’s genuinely terrifying. Fresh from a sell out run in London, ‘The Lonely One’ tells the story of a woman walking to and from a cinema in the midst of a series of murders. Whilst it may not sound terribly exciting, Dotted Line’s imaginative use of light manipulation and shadow theatre creates a fantastically tense atmosphere that grips the audience until the end of the show. Rachel Warr’s Lavinia was impressive and engaging and the whole cast gave a strong performance. Worth seeing for the technical elements alone, ‘The Lonely One’ will continue to haunt you long after the show.

Underbelly Cowgate, 2-26 Aug, 6.50pm.
