The Indescribable Phenomenon (Haberdashery)

By | Published on Friday 24 August 2012

Based on the true story of Anna Eva Fay, ‘The Indescribable Phenomenon’ explores the ways in which man seeks to understand and manipulate the unknown. The show uses a dynamic concoction of vaudeville, magic and physical comedy to create shallow, but honest, good fun. However, it is the subtle, yet compelling, plot that really makes this show sparkle. The brilliant performance of Lucas John Mahoney, full of heartfelt emotional depth, turns an hour of somewhat light entertainment into a poignant tale of human tragedy. The magic tricks and spiritual mysticism may provide the ephemeral draw to the show, but it is the informative story and superb delivery that will resonate long after the smoke has cleared.

Greenside, 1-25 Aug, 3.50pm.
