The Eighth Day (Last Tape Productions)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

This is the story of a man who has lost his wife, daughter, job, home and possessions – everything apart from the family dog, Sheba. There are moments of dark comedy as the character muses on his situation in this one man show: the world completely shifts for him; he is suddenly caught in an unfamiliar world, negotiating the politics of homeless hostels and begging. He is viewed as ‘other’ by people he was once on a par with. This play explores the stereotypes that exist, how each of us define ourselves and what this means in the wider world and to the people we interact with. It’s well delivered, but despite this, it failed to grip me throughout.
