Swamp Juice (Bunk Puppets and Scamp Theatre)
By Veronika Kallus | Published on Friday 24 August 2012
An hour of genuine laughter and giggles, of wide eyes, and gasps and astonishment. One puppeteer and a handful of gypsy sound creating musicians craft a whole world of shadows and life. Snakes, snails, a mouse and, most importantly, Birdie are all subjects of interest to the swamp monster (or is it just a man, the same man again, it’s the same man!!). The audience first plays an active part in Birdie’s struggle to survive, and then is drawn under water and lifted into the air in a most fascinating array of 3 D shadows swirling through the darkness. Expect to duck in your seat as you imagine getting hit by a beak or being eaten by a predatory fish!
Underbelly Bristo Square, 14-27 Aug, 4.30pm.
