Social Husbandry Inc – Breeding a Brighter Society Since 2012 (Green Stag Youth Theatre)
By Thom May | Published on Friday 17 August 2012
This is a bizarre but fun little show. It’s partly set in a nursery and partly in a yuppie flat, so we immediately know something has gone terribly wrong, and there are a lot of questions to ask: why are all the little girls in the nursery so well made-up? Why do the Yuppies all have to take a bath together? Why is everyone eating from soviet style pot-noodle cups? And why does the government seem to have a drinks deal with Pepsi? About halfway through, the company stop resisting a long exposition: needless to say there’s an authoritarian regime involved. The show is a little contrived but impressive devising work has gone on and the acting is promising. Just hope it doesn’t happen.
