Simple Matters (Ines Wurth Presents / A Dreamawake Prod)
By Lauren Houghton | Published on Saturday 18 August 2012
Warning: do not see this show if you suffer from coulrophobia. Though if you don’t suffer from a fear of clowns before the show, odds are it’ll hit you by the time you leave. This act features the antics of five clowns as they go about their everyday life: sleeping five to a bed; jumping down toilets; squirting water around- just your normal clown affairs. It even features (I kid you not) the birth of a clown baby live on stage. There are a few moments of amusement and the acrobatics are quite impressive, but it was all rather disturbing, a childlike act performed by adult bodies. Second warning: if you sit near the front, you’re going to get jumped on.
Gilded Balloon Teviot, 9-26 Aug (not 14, 20), 1.30pm.
