Peep (Natural Shocks)

By | Published on Sunday 12 August 2012

This show takes place in a box, with the audience sitting in their own cubicles blocked out from the world, watching the show through a one-way mirror and listening through headphones. If that doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable, then carry on reading; ‘Peep’ consists of three separate shows, each lasting 20 minutes long, about sexual themes such as pornography. The idea of voyeuristic theatre and theatre breaking down assumptions about sexual activities are both interesting concepts that I agree should be explored, but putting them together like this made me feel uncomfortable; I left quickly after watching because I couldn’t look at anyone who’d shared the experience. It felt a little bit like too much too soon.

Pleasance Courtyard, 1-27 Aug (not 17), every hour from 11.00am – 7.00pm.
