Nights At The Circus (Fourth Monkey)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

The code of clowns, escaping tigers, squeaking monkeys, a girl with wings, train journeys from London to St Petersburg to Siberia, an avalanche, and all of this under the enquiring nose of an American journalist. Undoubtedly the cast and the background staff did their best to fit out this story to the best of their ability, and considering the space and possibilities they certainly did a good job, but the story is just not made for such surroundings. The best part were the clowns who gave some atmosphere to the play, albeit not a cheerful one but rather sad and dark. An ambitious project, but the many changes of scenery and the creation of a believable circus atmosphere made it prone to failure.
